Mission Trip 2017

There comes a point for any community where a disaster of a certain size or magnitude leaves more devastation than the community is able to respond to on its own. In 2015, Lake County was hit by a series of devastating wildfires. The most destructive of these was the Valley fire which burned 76,067 acres. The fire destroyed 1,955 structures, including 1,322 homes, 27 apartment buildings and 73 businesses.

In August of 2016, Lake County was on fire again. This time the Clayton Fire was buring in the Lower Lake area. It burned over 4,000 acres and 300 buildings, 175 of them homes. The impact of all these fires in an already poverty stricken area has left a large need for volunteers to help with the fire recovery efforts.

CCNC-N has been sending groups on mission trips to disaster areas since Hurricane Katrina. The Disaster Recovery Team partnered with Hope Crisis Response Network in Middletown last year.

We will be partnering with them again this year. They have several houses under construction and have more families on their waiting list for help Everyone has skills that can be useful, but if you can't go, please consider sponsoring someone who can.
