Disability & Diversity Awareness Conference

On October 21, 2017, Women of Spirit and Action (WOSA) will convene a Disability and Diversity Awareness Conference at Niles-Discovery Church located in Fremont, CA. The goal of the conference is to give those in attendance a justice oriented perspective on Disability and Inclusion. This conference is for all leaders curious about increasing knowledge of disabilities that are seen and unseen. We will discuss best practices and gain knowledge on how to attract, engage and advance persons with disabilities within congregational settings. The site is wheelchair accessible. Clergy and lay congregational leadership are encouraged to attend.

The goals of the conference are to:

  • EXPLORE Disability from a Faith Perspective
  • LEARN Best practices in the care and engagement of people living with disabilities in local congregational settings
  • IDENTIFY Visible and invisible disabilities
  • LEARN ABOUT Inclusive/exclusive language
  • IMPLEMENT Environmental and Technological issues that impact people living with disabilities
