Ben Bohren: Regional Minister-President
He came to this new ministry after nearly 8 years as
the Director of Church Relations for the Disciples National Benevolent
Association. Prior to ministry he served 10 years as Director of Church
Relations at
A native of Lake Worth, Florida, Ben received his
A.A. at Palm Beach Junior College; his B.A. at Lynchburg College, Lynchburg, VA;
and his D. Min. at Lexington Theological Seminary, Lexington, KY. He was
ordained in 1973. That's the statistics -- here's what Ben really wants you to know: He loves the youth of the church! ...has counseled at over 125 camps and conferences; ...has slept over 2 years of his life on the floors of churches or bunk beds doing youth ministry; ...has been keynote speaker or worship leader at major Regional events in over 20 Regions.
He has a passion for young adult ministry!
...while at Chapman he helped develop the largest young adult program in the
Disciples with over 100 active members. It is still going strong! He has a passion for mission. ...while at the NBA he created the national Disciples Miracle Day program which brought over 15,000 Disciples together in 51 projects of building renewal for local church and Regional campgrounds.
He has a commitment to peace and justice
ministries believing that the grace and love of God belongs to all people
and all people belong in the family of God. He believes that servant ministry
is the hope for renewal in the church; only in reaching out to others do we
find out what it means to be a child of God! He loves working out, hot
fudge sundaes, traveling, leading spiritual life retreats, week-end afternoon
naps, mission trips, yellow roses and dinner with friends.
