I had been a Japanese language teacher for 40 years. I taught at the high-school level for a few years and I taught at several Bay area colleges, first 10 years at San Francisco State, then several years each at UC Berkley, UC Sant Cruz, USF, Monterey Language Institute, last 10 years at Stanford.

Cha-no-yu experience: I helped my mother's tea class starting middle school age, then started study of Cha-no-yu at high school age, and have continued my study on and off until now. I am teaching Cha-no-yu at my tea room for the last 20 years.
