Are you unsure what the difference is between racism and personal prejudice? How is racism a system beyond individual choices? Why does racism still grip the United States? And how can we participate as people of faith in its dismantling internally and socially?

If these questions interest you, you should consider attending the 1.5 day workshop. You don’t have to have been trained before. All it requires is some time and an open heart and mind.

DOC and UCC Clergy, laity, activists, and allies are all welcome!

The training will be held at Mills Grove Christian Church at 5410 Fleming Ave in Oakland, California. This training meets the yearly boundaries training requirement for DOC clergy. Costs with include dinner on Friday, light breakfast and lunch on Saturday. Trainers Revs. Sandhya Jha and David Bell, both DOC Clergy, will be leading us through a series of conversations and activities that look at race and power.

Cost: $45

To reserve your seat at the training, please call Jim at (925) 556-9900 or email him HERE

Regarding HBT requirements and the date of this seminar:

All clergy are required to take at least one boundaries training per year. Basic Boundaries Training (formally Healthy Boundaries Training 101) is required every 3 years and is being offered this year on March 12th. This would fulfill a clergyperson’s Boundaries requirement for the year. Healthy Boundaries Training 102 and 103 no longer exist; instead we plan to offer a broader range of topics.

The Anti-Racism Training is our alternative Boundaries Training for the year for those who do not have to take the Basic Boundaries Training. We are working towards having two alternative trainings a year.

Starts: 1:00 PM Friday, February 5th, 2016
Ends: 5:00 PM Saturday, February 6th, 2016
Location: Mills Grove Christian Church, Oakland
